  • Post comments:9 Comments

Welcome to another interview at Forum Flare!
We’re excited to shine a light on the people who help online communities thrive. Today, we’re featuring Allena, the Community Team Leader at Forum Promotion, who plays a key role in keeping the community welcoming, active, and supportive. Let’s dive into her journey, experiences, and a few fun insights along the way.

1. What inspired you to take on the role of Community Team Leader at Forum Promotion?

I’ve held this role in the past and had to step down due to not having enough time. When I returned to FP, I wanted to contribute more to the forums than I did as a CTM, so stepping back into this role felt like the right move.

2. What do you enjoy most about your role on the team?

I enjoy the opportunity to support and uplift others the most. Being in a leadership role allows me to help people grow, build confidence, and feel valued within the team. I also love creating a positive, welcoming environment where everyone feels heard and motivated to contribute. It’s rewarding to see the team succeed and know I played a part in that.

3. How would you describe your day-to-day responsibilities?

It’s a mix of staying organized and supporting the community. I review posts to ensure they follow guidelines, step in to de-escalate conflicts, and remove content that breaks rules. I also engage with members—welcoming newcomers, answering questions, and encouraging discussions. Behind the scenes, I monitor reports, respond to concerns, collaborate with staff, and help improve policies or suggest ideas to enhance the community.

4. What has it been like returning to Forum Promotion?

I’ve really enjoyed being back, and I think it’s been positive for the community as well. I have more time now, so I’ve been able to actively contribute and use my skills wherever I can 🙂

5. Have you noticed any changes since your return?

There have been quite a few changes—staffing shifts, some members being on and off (though it’s great to see them returning), the Review Team is no longer active, and a Graphics Team has been introduced since I was last CTL.

6. What are your favorite things about Forum Promotion as a community?

I love how supportive and collaborative the community is. It’s a space where people can share ideas, get feedback, and help each other grow without judgment. There’s always something new to learn, whether it’s about community management, creativity, or engagement.

7. What makes Forum Promotion stand out compared to other forums?

It’s how active and welcoming it is. People don’t just drop links and leave—they engage, give feedback, and build real connections. It feels like a genuine community.

8. What challenges have you faced in your role, and how have you handled them?

I haven’t had any challenges so far.

9. What’s the most difficult part of being a Community Team Leader?

Making tough decisions—especially when it involves people you’ve built connections with. You want to support everyone, but sometimes you have to step back and do what’s best for the community overall.

10. What has been your proudest moment on Forum Promotion so far?

Seeing the positive impact I’ve had—whether it’s helping members, contributing to discussions, or supporting the team. Knowing I’m making a difference, even in small ways, is really rewarding.

11. What keeps you motivated on a busy day?

The community itself. Seeing members engage, grow, and support each other reminds me why I enjoy being there.

12. When you’re not working on Forum Promotion, what’s your favorite way to spend your time?

Spending time with my children, reading, or watching my favorite TV shows.

13. Do you have any hobbies or interests that might surprise forum members?

I’m not sure if it’s surprising, but I enjoy playing the piano and the ukulele.

14. If you could have one “superpower” to help with your role, what would it be?

Mind-reading—but in a positive way. Being able to understand what members need or how they’re feeling would make communication and support much smoother.

15. Just for fun—what’s something about you that most people don’t know?

Most people don’t realize that I’m actually a lot more laid-back and quiet than I probably come across online.

Allena is definitely an asset to FP. I’ve watched that forum from the very start to what it has turned into today. I’m happy to be a part of it. I need to visit and post more. I’ve been trying to do that more on forums I belong to. I love how FP has always been there to do challenges and contests. Great interview!

I enjoyed reading the interview with Allena. I can relate to working on the staff team there on FP, although I’m working in a different role. So, it’s nice to see things from someone else’s perspective. Thank you for sharing the interview!

I found the interview with Allena very enriching because it shows how community leadership can make a difference in a forum. She clearly explains that her role is not just to enforce rules, but to create a safe and motivating environment for members. I was struck by her focus on empathy and actively listening to the community, something that strengthens trust and participation. She also emphasizes the importance of organization and teamwork, noting that every decision aims for the collective good. Ultimately, she conveys passion and commitment, demonstrating that digital leadership requires both technical skills and human sensitivity to sustain authentic and lasting spaces.

  7. Devol

This is a very honest interview. I can add to it in the aspect of what makes Forum Promotion stand out more than others is one event they hold every year called Site Battle Madness. I’ve never seen anything like it in any other forums. It embodies community spirit and competition at its best.

  8. Nomad

I have worked as a staff (mainly, on posting package team) on Forum Promotion, and based on my personal experience, I can say Forum Promotion is a nice place to work. I haven’t known Allena much but I am glad to read her views on her forum role.

Allena is one of the biggest assets on Forum Promotion. If you’re not committed and dedicated, it’s going to hard to impact much being on FP staff team which Allena have been super immense to FP’s growth.
